To see strong local churches that are self-sustaining, effectively witnessing the whole gospel
To equip Christian development organizations in their task to strengthen the local church by the empowerment of its members through transformational microenterprise programs
Founded in 1999 the Wholistic Transformation Resource Center (WTRC) is a non-stock, non-profit Christian foundation with a vision "to see strong local churches that are self-sustaining, effectively witnessing the whole gospel." WTRC aims to realize this vision by equipping Christian development organizations in their task to empower members of the church community through transformational and holistic microenterprise development programs. In 1999, the CTRC organized the first-ever global Christian Microenterprise Development Conference in Jomtien, Thailand. The conference was attended by over 300 individuals representing over 100 Christian development organizations, mission agencies and churches interested in or actually implementing microenterprise development. That conference gave birth to a community of CMED practitioners and supporters loosely referred to as the CMED network. In 2001, the second Christian Microenterprise Development Conference was held in Thailand to share tools, techniques and models in implementing CMED programs. This conference was attended by 500 individuals representing 230 CMED organizations. Following the concept of a structured CMED network was proposed with the CTRC as its service arm.
WTRC seeks to: - Build an awareness of the effectiveness of CMED and promote its biblical basis - Identify the global stakeholders of CMED - Identify the needs of the CMED sector - Establish and support a global or regional structure and/or mechanism that will facilitate the distribution and dissemination of information and services needed by the CMED sector - Advocate for increased CMED support
